Public Holidays in Pakistan: 2026–2028

Pakistan’s public holidays mix fixed national days — Kashmir Day, Pakistan Day, Independence Day — with Islamic holidays like Eid-ul-Fitr and Eid-ul-Azha, whose exact dates depend on the moon sighting and are announced each year.

This page lists every public and bank holiday in Pakistan for 2026, 2027 and 2028 in one place. Use the month and year picker to jump to any month, or browse the whole year at a glance. Each entry shows the exact date, the weekday, the type of holiday and what it means for banks, offices, schools and shops.

Government offices, banks and schools close on public holidays. Many private businesses shut for Eid; Friday afternoons are typically short working hours year-round. The calendar is updated with substitute and observed days where they apply, and lunar dates are clearly marked as expected until officially confirmed.

Guide to public holidays in Pakistan

How Pakistan sets its holidays

Public holidays in Pakistan are announced by the federal government through an official notification, usually published before the start of each year. The list combines fixed national days such as Pakistan Day, Independence Day and Quaid-e-Azam Day with religious holidays.

Eid and other Islamic holidays

Eid ul-Fitr, Eid ul-Adha, Ashura and Eid Milad-un-Nabi follow the Islamic lunar calendar. Their final dates depend on the moon sighting decided by the Ruet-e-Hilal Committee, so they can move by a day compared with early estimates. Pakistan often marks Eid one day after Saudi Arabia.

Provincial and local holidays

Provincial governments can announce extra holidays for their own province, and the government sometimes adds special holidays at short notice. Check provincial notifications if you work in a specific region.

Planning tips

Government offices, banks and schools close on public holidays. Before Eid, banks and markets get very busy, so complete payments and travel bookings early.
