Public Holidays in Spain: 2026–2028
Spain guarantees 9 national fiestas al año — including Epiphany, National Day (October 12) and Constitution Day — and each autonomous community adds its own, which is why the calendar looks different in Catalonia, Andalusia or the Basque Country.
This page lists every public and bank holiday in Spain for 2026, 2027 and 2028 in one place. Use the month and year picker to jump to any month, or browse the whole year at a glance. Each entry shows the exact date, the weekday, the type of holiday and what it means for banks, offices, schools and shops.
On national fiestas most businesses, banks and schools close. Regional holidays apply only in that community; bars and restaurants usually stay open. The calendar is updated with substitute and observed days where they apply, and lunar dates are clearly marked as expected until officially confirmed.
Dates marked expected follow the lunar calendar and are confirmed by official moon-sighting announcements — they may shift by a day.

Guide to public holidays in Spain
National holidays
Spain publishes its official holiday calendar each year. National holidays include New Year's Day, Epiphany, Good Friday, Labour Day, the Assumption, National Day on 12 October, All Saints' Day, Constitution Day, the Immaculate Conception and Christmas.
Regional and local holidays
The autonomous communities can replace some national days and add their own, such as Catalonia's Diada or Andalusia Day. Each town also adds two local holidays, so the total is usually up to fourteen a year.
Weekend rules
When a holiday falls on a Sunday, some regions move it to Monday. This varies by region and year, so always check the regional bulletin.
Planning tips
Banks and offices close, while many shops in tourist areas stay open. Holy Week and August are busy travel periods.
