Public Holidays in Saudi Arabia: 2026–2028

Saudi Arabia’s calendar centres on Founding Day (February 22), National Day (September 23) and the two Eids, whose exact dates are confirmed by moon sighting. The official weekend is Friday–Saturday.

This page lists every public and bank holiday in Saudi Arabia for 2026, 2027 and 2028 in one place. Use the month and year picker to jump to any month, or browse the whole year at a glance. Each entry shows the exact date, the weekday, the type of holiday and what it means for banks, offices, schools and shops.

Government offices, banks and schools close on public holidays. Private-sector closures follow official announcements; malls generally remain open during Eid. The calendar is updated with substitute and observed days where they apply, and lunar dates are clearly marked as expected until officially confirmed.

Guide to public holidays in Saudi Arabia

Official holidays

Saudi Arabia has a short list of official holidays: Founding Day on 22 February, Saudi National Day on 23 September, and the Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha holiday periods. The Eid breaks are usually several days long.

The Hijri calendar

Religious holidays follow the Islamic calendar, and Saudi Arabia uses the Umm al-Qura calendar for official planning. Final Eid dates are confirmed by moon sighting, so exact days may shift slightly from early estimates.

Public and private sectors

Government offices often receive longer Eid breaks than private companies. The Ministry of Human Resources announces the private sector holiday days each year.

Planning tips

The weekend is Friday and Saturday. Expect heavy travel around Eid, especially to Makkah and Madinah, and plan bookings and payments well in advance.
