Public Holidays in Canada: 2026–2028
Canada’s statutory holidays are set federally — New Year’s, Good Friday, Victoria Day, Canada Day, Labour Day, Thanksgiving, Remembrance Day and Christmas — but provinces add their own, like Family Day and St-Jean-Baptiste, so the list changes depending on where you are.
This page lists every public and bank holiday in Canada for 2026, 2027 and 2028 in one place. Use the month and year picker to jump to any month, or browse the whole year at a glance. Each entry shows the exact date, the weekday, the type of holiday and what it means for banks, offices, schools and shops.
Federal offices and banks close on statutory holidays. Provincial extras apply to provincially regulated workers; most retail follows provincial rules. The calendar is updated with substitute and observed days where they apply, and lunar dates are clearly marked as expected until officially confirmed.
Dates marked expected follow the lunar calendar and are confirmed by official moon-sighting announcements — they may shift by a day.

Guide to public holidays in Canada
Federal and provincial holidays
Canada has federal statutory holidays that apply to federally regulated workplaces, such as banks, airlines and telecom companies. Each province and territory sets its own statutory holidays for everyone else, so the list depends on where you live.
Common holidays
New Year's Day, Good Friday, Canada Day, Labour Day and Christmas Day are observed across the country. Victoria Day, Thanksgiving and Boxing Day are widely observed, while Family Day in February is a holiday in several provinces.
Truth and Reconciliation
The National Day for Truth and Reconciliation on 30 September has been a federal holiday since 2021. Some provinces observe it as well, while others do not.
Planning tips
When a holiday falls on a weekend, many employers give the next working day off. Banks and government offices close, and many stores reduce hours.
